Refilling the Inkjet Cartridges – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Refilling the Inkjet Cartridges – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Many of us use printer. It may be in home or office. We usually own inkjet printers if its for basic use. The main advantage of inkjet printers are its low cost. We used to refill the cartridge once the ink gets over which is an another added advantage. Cartridges are just a plastic box with a block of sponge inside to hold the ink. Many of us refill the cartridge which comes as a compliment with the printer. But there is a drawback in most of the cartridges which are given as compliments.

If we notice in complimentary cartridges, the sponge inside the cartridge  will be small (almost half the size of cartridge) which can hold only less quantity of ink. In other retail cartridges (non complimentary cartridges), the size of the sponge will be as big as the size of the cartridge itself. So the retail cartridges can hold almost double the quantity of ink in the sponge compared to the complimentary cartridges. So it is always better to buy a new cartridge once the ink in complimentary cartridge get over and do refilling in the new retail cartridge rather than refilling the complimentary cartridge. Note that larger the size of the sponge in the cartridge, larger it can hold the ink and hence the number of pages it can print will be higher. Similarly smaller the size of the sponge in the cartridge, lesser it can hold the ink and hence the number of pages it print will be lesser. This is the case for both color and black & white cartridges.

You can understand well by seeing the below two images. The two images show the cartridges, one with bigger sponge and the other with smaller sponge.

Cartridge with bigger sponge
Cartridge with smaller sponge

Remember that the price to refill the cartridges are same irrespective of size of the sponges which is inside the cartridge. Considering the best case scenario a cartridge can perform well upto 4 or 5 refills.

Tile – Find anything which is lost

Tile – Find anything which is lost

We live in the world of gadgets and accessories. Accessories are a part of our daily life. Some of the accessories which we use in our day to day life are mobiles, laptops, bags, wallets, keys etc. It is a regular habit of people to misplace their accessory. The accessory is either found or lost. This happens to almost all people. It doesn’t matter whether we are in home, office or travel. e use accessories wherever we go. If you are a kind if guy/girl who misses or misplaces any product or accessory frequently. Here is the solution for it. Tile!!!, which is used to find the lost item.

Tile is a small Bluetooth device which is sized around 1.5cm square and 5mm thickness. Tile will be used along with iOS compatible devices to find the location of lost item. The Tile is kept with the accessory or item which we lose or misplace frequently. If we misplace the item, the iOS device will be able to detect the Tile if its in the range of 50ft to 150ft distance. The basic idea is that the Bluetooth signal from the Tile is received by the smartphone and based on the signal strength the iOS device will calculate the distance between the Tile and the iOS device which makes it possible to find the lost item or accessory. The Tile has built-in speaker which makes it another advantage to find the lost item.

To use a Tile with a item, the Tile is first activated using any of the iOS device with the use of custom application ‘Tile App’. Then the Tile is kept along with the accessory we use. If we have lost that accessory, we will use the Tile application in the iOS device and activate an option that the Tile is lost. Now the Tile application with the help of Bluetooth will be able to detect the Tile if its in the range of 50ft to 150ft. If the Tile is not found in our place we can enable another option which makes other iOS devices(to whom you have shared) to send an update or notification to our iOS device if it detects our Tile in their range. Thus we will will be able to find the lost item anywhere and anytime.

Class Rating in Memory Cards – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Class Rating in Memory Cards – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Memory cards are one of the most popular storage device which are used in portable electronic devices like smartphones, digital cameras, portable gaming consoles(PSP, Nvidia Shield etc), MP3 players etc. The revolution in science and technology has made made the memory card into very small chip with greater storage capacity ranging from megabytes to 256GB. Its a great thing that 256GB of data is accommodated into such a small chip. Also the price of the memory cards are getting cheaper and cheaper. Memory cards are available in different model(MMC, SD, microSD, SDXC, SDHC etc) which can be used based on the device compatibility or requirement.

Transcend, Kingston, Sony etc are some of the popular memory card manufactures. It is quite normal that we always go for buying the products with less price and we expect a decent quality. This thought might lead to performance degradation in the electronic devices. Consider the below image.

8GB microSD memory card
1. Class 2
2. Class 4

Both the 8GB memory cards in the above image are from same manufacturer, but the price in different. The memory card at the right side will be costlier than the memory card which at the left on the image. The difference lies in the Class Rating on it. Class Rating is a measure of read write performance of which is specified at the top right corner of the memory card with a number enclosed in a circle. The performance of any storage device can be measured by its read write performance. i.e the speed at which the data is transferred to and from the storage device. In the case of memory card Class Rating specifies its performance. The electronic device which we use may give low performance if we are using memory card with lesser Class Rating than the specified one. But in most cases we are considering only the storage with not being aware of the Class Rating. This will lead to performance degradation of the electronic device which we are using.

An example situation where we get degraded performance

Consider we have digital camera which is capable of recording FullHD video which will be stored in the memory card. While shooting, the digital camera will shoot the video and the data will be continuously be transferred from camera to memory card. Consider we are using memory card with Class Rating 2 which will not be sufficient for recording FullHD video. This is because Class Rating 2 memory cards have read/write performance of upto 2MB/s. But the digital camera will be recording(generating the data) the video at 6MB/s or even 10MB/s. Thus the camera cannot record the video properly due to the low performance memory card. This is the case of any electronic device which uses memory  cards. So always go for memory cards with better class rating which is meant for the device we are using.Below table shows the Class Rating and its corresponding application use.

Class Rating and their Applications

Class Rating
Performance
Applications
Class 2
2MB/s
      1.    SD video recording
Class 4
4 MB/s
      1.   High-definition video (HD)
      2.    Full HD video recording
Class 6
6 MB/s
      1.    High-definition video (HD)
      2.    Full HD video recording
Class 10
6 MB/s
      1.    Full HD video recording
      2.    consecutive recording of HD stills
UHS Speed Grade 1
10 MB/s
      1.    Real-time broadcasts
      2.    large HD video files

UHS are Ultra High Speed memory card which gives better performance and are usually used in Digital-SLR cameras.

MYO – YOUR MUSCLE CAN TALK – HAND BASED GESTURE CONTROL

MYO – YOUR MUSCLE CAN TALK – HAND BASED GESTURE CONTROL

The technology we use has changed a lot. We control the technology with voice, hand gestures, eye and many more. Control of electronic devices like smartphones and televisions are controlled with voice with the use of latest technology in hardware and software. In advanced televisions and gaming consoles like Xbox, the system is able to track hand and other body movements. With such great innovation we have our next innovation in line up which is named MYO from Thalmic Labs,a wearable wrist  band which tracks the movement of hand and fingers.

For each movement in our body, there is a corresponding movement in our muscle. MYO which fits just above the wrist tracks the hand and finger movements by tracking the movement in the muscle and such muscle activity is converted into wireless signal which is sent to electrical devices like computer, laptop or a smartphone.

MYO has the capability to control presentations, video, content, games, browse the web, create music, edit videos and many more. The developers from other field (like smartphone, gaming console) are coming forward to develop application which can be used with MYO. Currently the MYO is supported by Windows and Mac operating system and soon the APIs will be released for Android and iOS.
