           The world is full of entertainment. Everyone is using mobile phones, laptops, desktop, televisions etc. In most cases users find it difficult hook up their gadgets to external powerful speaker with wires particularly in the case of laptops and mobile phones  Here we have The vamp, a kick starter project which makes the users connect to any speaker with Bluetooth technology.

          The Vamp is a small Bluetooth enabled device which  is used to receive sound from any Bluetooth device like smartphone, laptop, tablet or any other media player which has built in Bluetooth technology.  The Vamp is in turn is connected to the speakers with 3.5mm audio jack or traditional speaker cable connectors which produces sound play from the mobile phone or tablet.

            We live in a mobile world.We travel a lot. We always want to be connected with other. Smartphones are one choice which makes it. But how about a super smartphone which replaces desktop, laptop, tablet, iPod  camera etc. We have all the above mentioned electronic products in one form Samsung Galaxy S4 whose specification has got limitless capabilities compared to existing technology in smartphones which is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. Let us see the specification and its features below.




This is the world’s first ever smartphone to come with octa-core processor and that too built with two different CPU. The octa-core CPU will include four 1.6GHz ARM Cortex-A15 and four 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A7 with 2GB RAM.  Does a smartphone really need such a high end processor? The rest of the specification and features will answer the question.


The S4 has PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU capable of running high quality games. To make to gaming experience easier Samsung has an Game Pad accessory which docks to the smartphone.



The smartphone has a 5inch Full HD  Super AMOLED display (1080 x 1920 pixels) with pixel density of around 441 ppi. The display  is built with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is three times more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass 2. It is one of the great advantage for rough users.


The smartphone has 13 MP(4128 x 3096 pixels) camera in the rear with a LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera for video chatting. The smartphone is capable of enabling both the cameras simultaneously so that both the images can be superimposed into one another. The rear camera supports simultaneous HD video and image recording, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization and HDR at 30fps. The front camera will also support Full HD video recording at 30fps. During video chatting it is possible to enable both front and rear camera so that the user at the other end can see both the view simultaneously. It is also possible to share the display with other users.

Build ,Design, Battery and Storage

The smartphone Samsung Galaxy S4 which will be available in white and black color, at 130g is slightly lighter than the S3 (133g) and has the same height and width dimensions with 7.9mm thickness. The battery capacity is  2,600mAh which is 500mAh higher than the S3. The phone will be available in 16/32/64 GB internal storage and a microSD slot which supports upto 64GB.

Some of the other common features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth 4.0.  Barometer, temperature, humidity, gesture are the sensor built into S4.

S Health

It is an exclusive app that monitors your health and fitness. The Galaxy S4 has a built-in pedometer to count your steps and can measure your calories and eating habits by taking photos of your meal. Samsung will also sell a fitness bracelet, a digital scale and fitness belt to measure blood pressure, pulse, glucose levels and weight for those interested.


Air Gestures & Air View

With Air Gestures it is possible for the user to use his hand  gestures over the phone without touching the display to control the phone. Some of the common gestures include waving the hand in specific direction which controls some common functions like navigation in browsers.

Air View is similar to Air Gestures but the only difference is the use of fingers. It is possible to control the phone just by hovering fingers over the display to gain certain features like previewing email and many more.

Smart Pause & Smart Scroll

The Smart Pause feature is supported by eye tracking which pauses the video when the user moves away from the screen and resumes the video when the user when you are back. With Smart Scroll it is also possible to scroll the pages in browser just by using eyes and hand movements.

Group Play

With the Group Play function, users can enjoy music, photos, documents and games with those around them without even requiring a Wireless access point. It enables users to connect directly with others to share required content. Its Share Music option allows users to have the same song playing on multiple phones in sync to create the best sounding atmosphere.

S Translator

An app in which you can input any of 10 languages and receive a translation, either spoken or in text. Also works to translate text on your email, text messages and a few other Samsung apps.

S Voice Drive

New hands-free function for drivers that allows the driver to operate the phone with his or her voice.

Optical Reader

It is a special camera features that can snap a business or visiting card and stores the required information into the phone book.

Samsung WatchON

A built-in IR sensor lets you control your television, DVD players and certain cable box with your smartphone.

Wireless Charging Pad

It is an accessory which makes it possible to charge the smartphone just by placing the smartphone over the Wireless Charging Pad.

        We can experience the features only if we own it and the ease of using the mobile cannot be made further simpler. The pricing is not yet announced and the phone is expected  to be released in April 2013.

         Desktops, laptops, mobile, tablet are used for everyday computing. It is a part of daily life. We even own desktop, tablet and laptop which we use for browsing, playing, social networking, watching movies and the list goes on. But we wont be able to use all the three since any one of the devices serve most of the general  purpose computing. If we want to buy a computer, laptop or a tablet, there are a lot choice available with different configurations based on processor, motherboard, RAM, GPU, hard disk etc. Each and every configuration has its own computing power. But anyway a desktop is a desktop, laptop is a laptop and tablet is a tablet. These devices cannot serve the purpose of the other, say a tablet has less processing power compared to desktop and laptop. Similarly a laptop has less processing power compared to the desktop for the same price. The experience will be different in different platform. But here we have we have a product which can be used as a tablet and a desktop. It is ASUS Transformer AiO P1801 which can be used as s desktop PC or a tablet. This is the reason why the model is named “Transformer”.

           ASUS Transformer AiO P1801 is a all in one PC which can be used either as a desktop PC or a tablet. The device is built with 18.4 inch Full HD display . The speciality is that the display alone can be detached from the main desktop station so that the display component alone can be used as a tablet which has its own mobile processor  RAM, storage etc. The tablet runs Windows OS when the tablet(display component) is connected to the desktop station while the same display component runs Android OS when it is detached from the desktop station. Note that the device as a whole has got two separate  processor, one for the tablet and and one for the device to run as desktop.  Similarly the RAM, storage and other components are also two in counts. 


          The display component when detached from the main desktop station forms the tablet which has 10 point multi-touch capability.  The 18.4 inch tablet runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core processor and 2 GB DDR3 RAM. It also included 32GB flash storage, 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v3.0 EDR, 1 Megapixel camera,  memory card slot with build in speaker and mic. The tablet also includes a 2-in-1 audio jack for headphone / mic-in, a  Docking port (charging + PC for data sync) and mini USB 2.0 port. The tablet is powered by 38 W battery.

Desktop Mode         The tablet when plugged to the main desktop station runs Windows 8 OS powered by Intel® Core i7 processor and 4 GB(upto 8GB) DDR3 RAM . The desktop PC station includes 1TB hard drive (upto 2TB support), DVD-RW optical drive,  802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.0. It also includes four USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, 3 -in-1 Card Reader, a Headphone jack, a Microphone jack, HDMI port and a RJ45(Ethernet) port.

It is a virtual multi-touch mouse where the user can use his or her fingers to control the mouse pointer and can perform mouse operations on the desktop or laptop. The size of the device is less than half the size of regular desktop mouse and can be connected to desktop or laptop with standard USB port.

IllumiRoom – An Augmented Reality for nxtGen Xbox with Kinect

            Digital entertainment is a part of daily life. We see a lot of movies, videos, games etc. Displays and the speakers are the two electronic products which gives us great experience. Considering the current generation   display technologies, some are LCD’s, TFT’s, LED’s, Projectors etc. Better the size and resolution of the displays, better will be the user experience. We will get immersed in those technologies. Particularly we will be able to experience movies and games better in projectors. The projectors are now been taken to next level by Microsoft with the concept of IllumiRoom which is now under research.

            IllumiRoom is project where we get the augmented reality of the game we are playing in Xbox gaming console around the television screen to get enhanced gaming experience. IllumiRoom is integrated with the Kinect (motion controller) with the use of projector which creates the digital content of the game around the television screen in the our living room. It will creates an augmented reality of the digital world in the physical world which we live in. 

           The Kinect motion controller will first scan the dimension of the room to give maximum visual experience to the users. With this technology the user will experience increased field of view and a new gaming experience. The next generation Xbox  which is code-named Durango along with the the next generation motion controller Kinect is expected to be unveiled in the month of April 2013.
