Computers and Laptops are one of the daily used electronic products particularly for entertainment. Movies, Gaming, Music are some of its kind in entertainment. Here we have another device Oculus Rift, an upcoming, high field of view , virtual reality head-mounted display from Oculus LLC. The device is just a VR headset instead of traditional displays with a lot of great features.
The VR developer kit headset comes with 7 inch 720p(640×800 per eye)display screen which takes in DVI input which can be converted into HDMI with an adapter. The consumer version comes with 7 inch 1080p resolution which will be released later after the release of the developer kit. The product is currently under development for PC, though the company may consider consoles like Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, or next gen console and even mobile devices.
The device has a 1000 Hz Adjacent Reality Tracker with 3-axis gyros, accelerometers, and magnetometers for absolute head orientation tracking without drift. The power consumption is litter higher than what USB can deliver. The high power consumption is due to 7 inch display screen. So the device comes with external power cable and USB cable for data transfer from the VR headset and the PC. The weight of the device is approximately 250 grams.
